Certification FAQ

Common questions about getting certified.

Everything you need to know before registering for an exam — from eligibility and format to cost and what happens if you don't pass on the first attempt.

Do I need to complete a course before sitting the exam?
No — certification eligibility is based solely on demonstrated proficiency, not course completion. The free self-paced prep courses are strongly recommended, but they are not a mandatory prerequisite. The exam must be purchased separately regardless of any training taken.
What format does the exam take?
Each exam consists of 30–50 multiple-choice questions drawn from a larger question bank, plus a hands-on practical lab component. The exam is self-paced — there's no requirement to schedule a specific time slot.
What is the passing score?
A minimum score of 80% is required to pass all JFrog Associate certifications.
How much does certification cost?
Exam only: $200 — includes 2 attempts.
Bundle (ILT course + Exam): $360 — a saving of $90 compared to purchasing separately. Note: exam bundles are not eligible for PS credit conversion.
What happens if I don't pass? Is there a waiting period between attempts?
Each purchase includes 2 attempts. There is no mandatory waiting period between attempts — you may retake immediately. If both attempts are used without a passing score, you will need to repurchase the exam to try again.
How long is the certification valid?
JFrog certifications are valid for 2 years from the date of passing. Upon completion, you receive a digital badge and certificate. Recertification requires repurchasing and retaking the exam.
Is the certification recognized outside JFrog?
JFrog certifications validate expertise in DevOps and DevSecOps practices within the JFrog Platform ecosystem. While not tied to formal academic credit, they are well-recognized by organizations hiring for software supply chain, DevOps, DevSecOps, and Platform Administration roles.
