About this course

Course Duration: 10 minutes

Binaries are the heart of the artifact management system. Therefore, securing the binaries themselves has an important role in the overall system security. In this short DevOps course, we will show you how to enable encryption for binaries in transit and at rest and how to sign your binaries to enable authenticity validation and eliminate possible tempering hacks. We will also provide an overview of Artifactory’s approach to supporting a promotion-based strategy and we will explain how this strategy can be used to secure your software release pipelines as you adopt DevOps to automate your processes.

This core DevOps course covers many of the security configurations necessary to protect binaries in Artifactory. Binaries stored on standard storage devices either in the cloud or on-premise are said to be at rest, and this course will show you the best practices for protecting at-rest binaries from unauthorized access. Binaries that go through the network are considered as in-transit. For data in motion or in transit, this course will also teach you the best practices for encrypted transmission of binaries to protect from third-party eavesdropping and data theft.

The foundation of this DevOps course is to give you better guidance on the cybersecurity of your application binaries. It teaches you the importance of protecting your binaries and gives you advice on the ways you can protect your files in Artifactory. You’ll also have a better understanding of encryption and how it protects your data.

In this course we will cover

  • Secure your binaries at rest and in motion
  • Isolation and control gate in an automated DevOps environment

Who should take this DevOps course?

Application Security Engineers, DevSecOps, DevOps engineers and Artifactory administrators who have experience integrating Artifactory into their pipeline will benefit from this course. Developers who work with Artifactory in their software development lifecycle (SDLC) can also benefit from this DevOps course and find out better ways to secure their code from vulnerabilities and exploits.

Course Completion

In order to complete the course, you must answer at least 70% of the quiz questions correctly.
